What is non-surgical rhinoplasty?
Also known as the “liquid nose job” or the “15-minute nose job”, non-surgical rhinoplasty is one of the fastest-growing cosmetic procedures worldwide – and here’s why!
Unlike the surgical alternative, non-surgical rhinoplasty is popular because it is minimally invasive, it does not require patients to go under anaesthetic, and there is no post-operative recovery period. All modifications are carried out by the insertion of dermal fillers, often hyaluronic acid, or Botox, underneath the skin in the area around the nose, and sometimes the bridge of the nose.
The procedure is ideal for people who are looking to smooth out bumps or change the shape of their nose but aren’t ready for a more permanent solution with longer recovery times. It is a fast, safe, and cost-effective way of achieving meaningful changes in key nasal angles, with results lasting for up to 6 months.
What are the potential complications?
In most cases, the procedure shouldn’t prevent you from resuming your normal activities. For many lucky patients, a little redness and tenderness around the injection site will be the extent of the side effects, which often wears off in a few days, and even faster with an effective aftercare solution such as the Arnicare® healing cream. Other common side effects can include bruising and swelling of the area, filler migration or nausea.
It’s important to remember that the nose and face are sensitive areas filled with blood vessels and are close to our eyes. Finding a licensed and experienced provider to carry out the procedure will help to ensure that any additional more serious side effects do not occur.
What is the appropriate aftercare?
The good news is, there is no need for any special dressings or antibiotics after the procedure. However, it’s best not to wear any glasses or perform any heavy exercise for a week afterwards.
Make sure to take a pre-frozen ice pack with you to the appointment to help with the immediate swelling, the Arnicare lip-shaped ice pack is perfectly pocket-sized for this. When you get home, you can apply an arnica cream, such as Arnicare®, to help minimise any potential bruising and swelling. If necessary, over-the-counter pain medication can be taken. Your injector will also be able to advise you here.
Why use Arnicare®?
Arnica extract is the celebrity ingredient of any bruising remedies, and a well-known anti-inflammatory powerhouse. However, pharmacy-bought Arnica creams are often high in menthol, which is very drying to the skin. Not only that but rubbing menthol around your nose is setting you up for an eye-watering minty blast!
Instead of the drying and overwhelming effects of menthol, Arnicare® is instead formulated with the restorative and hydrating niacinamide and hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is known to draw in moisture from its surroundings, which is perfect when applied to the surface of the skin as a serum. However, with most dermal fillers being made from hyaluronic acid themselves, they can instead draw moisture away from your skin. By applying Arnicare® to the skin after dermal fillers, it replaces the moisture that has been drawn out, maintaining the skins hydration, and leading to a faster recovery.
