Unless you have been on a social media ban over the past few months, all you will have seen all over Instagram and TikTok from cosmetic injectors across Australia is news of a new Bio-remodelling treatment arriving in clinics.
Whilst Bio- remodelling injections have been used across Europe and the United States for years, the technology is very new to Australia, with cosmetic injectors able to commence using it from August 2022.
What is Bio-remodelling injections?
Bio- remodelling injections contain Hyaluronic acid (same as dermal filler) and is used as a treatment for aging. When injected, the medication (which we can't name here due to TGA restrictions) spreads like honey to plump aged and sagging skin. Bio-remodelling injections work particularly well for skin with a "crepey" appearance by encouraging the product of collagen. Unlike Dermal filler which can plump and add volume or structure to particular areas of the face, Bio-remodelling injections work as a luscious moisturiser to make skin appear more youthful, without changing the actual structure of the face.
What happens during Bio-remodelling treatment?
Bio-remodelling treatment is performed by a trained Cosmetic injector who will inject the bio-remodelling product using up to 10 injection sites. Unlike dermal filler, results aren't instantaneous, however you will start to notice visible differences within a few days. Your injector will also advise you that you will require two treatments, four weeks apart. For best results Cosmetic injectors recommend treatments every 6 months.
What areas are best treated with Bio-remodelling?
Unlike dermal filler which is injected into specific areas of the face to add volume and structure, Bio-remodelling injections can be utilised across the whole face, neck or decolletage. After being injected the product spreads like honey to engage a larger surface area.
What are the risks with Bio-remodelling?
Like any medical treatment there are always risks. The Arnicare team strongly recommend discussing risks of Bio-remodelling injections with your cosmetic injector prior to undergoing your procedure. Bio-remodelling injections carry some of the usual risks seen with other injectable treatments like dermal filler and antiwrinkle injections which include bruising, redness and infection. Bruising, redness and infection are all risks associated with trauma to the skin caused by the needle itself. Your injector will ensure your skin is prepared with an antiseptic cream to minimise the risk of infection. Our arnica cream, which contains niacinamide can be applied topically to assist with redness and bruising. More serious complications that can occur with dermal filler treatments like vascular occlusion are extremely rare with Bio-remodelling injections as injection sites commonly associated with vascular occlusions are avoided with this treatment.
What is the best aftercare for Bio-remodelling injections?
Your injector will always discuss your aftercare with you after any cosmetic procedure undertaken and we highly recommend following their advice. Cosmetic injectors may provide you with a take home cream to apply. Like any procedure that may cause bruising and redness, applying an ice pack may assist in reducing downtime. The Arnicare range provides the best aftercare for Bio-remodelling treatments in Australia.
Arnica cream can be applied to quickly reduce the appearance of bruising at the injection sites. Similar to Dermal filler, certain medications should also be avoided before and after Bio-remodelling injections, always check with your injector if you are unsure, and never stop blood thinning medications prescribed by a Cardiologist or Neurologist without discussion with them first. Finally, avoid touching the injection points as this can increase the risk of infection.
